Reliance on traditional practices means diminishing returns, and smart businesses can ill afford to stand pat while the rules are being rewritten around them. Nowhere is this more evident than in vendor partner relationships and what you should expect from them. We’re used to thinking of vendor partners as basic supply and demand relationships. That is, your business needs a supply of A and buys it from distributor B. The value of these relationships to the business is based almost entirely on price point. Customer service may play a role, but won’t trump a low cost when it comes to bottom line revenue.
